Bakau Women's Vegetable Garden

The Lord Mayor welcomes the Minister of Agriculture Hon Amie Fabureh and Representatives of FAO and WFP at Bakau Women’s Vegetable Garden that hosted the event.

The jubilant women and Ministry Officials thank the KMC for recently providing pesticides worth D44,000 for the pest infested garden.

The FAO, WFP and UN officials thank KMC for their foresight in providing Cold Storage facilities in Markets.

The Kanifing Municipal Council sees the value in preserving and supporting Women’s Gardens and their Associations. The Council’s Department of Community Services is working to secure external funding to support the production of compost, charcoal briquettes and biochar in partnership with Women’s Garden Associations in the municipality.

The Council continues to explore additional support through the Nominated Councilor for Women, Bineh Marong, and the Nominated Councilor for Farmers, Musa Badjie. We thank them for their continued efforts.
