KMC launched ‘10,000 household food aid’ program
KMC launched the ‘10,000 household food aid’ program for the people of KM in these very difficult times to support our mostly self-employed/ under-employed population who are required to stay at home in line with social-distancing guidelines.
We are targeting 10,000 vulnerable households (25% of KM Households) by giving bags of rice to each as support while they stay at home.
Our Cllrs with their WDCs and Community development officers under the supervision of the KMC Covid 19 task force will ensure that these bags make it to the right recipients.
To make this possible KMC has cut D1,000,000 from its travel budget (33% of travel budget) under the leadership of the finance committee and we have received over D1,000,000 from Very generous donors both businesses and individuals in KM.
We will start the distribution of over 3000 bags and encourage donors to help us reach our goal.
UDP Donates Food stuff to KMC
United Democratic Party (UDP) Donate Food stuff to KMC.
The Party leader and Secretary General of the United Democratic Party, His Excellency Ousainou ANM Darboe today donated 200 bags of 50kg rice, 700 bags of 25kg rice and 200 bags of sugar to the Kanifing Municipal Council.
The handing over ceremony was done at Old Jeswang in the presence of the Deputy Mayor, Councilors and the CEO who received the donated items on behalf of Council.
The CEO assured the UDP Party Leader that the stimulus package will undoubtedly reach the most vulnerable families it is meant for.
